Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year at JCHS! We invite you to get involved with our extraordinary parent community. As a parent or guardian of a JCHS student, you are automatically a member of the JCHS Parent Organization (PO). Whether you are new to the school or a returning family, we encourage you to participate in and volunteer for one or more activities, and start making connections! Your volunteer efforts are vital and are at the core of our strong sense of community at JCHS. Please click here for our Volunteer Sign-Up Form, print a copy, and mail it back to JCHS before August 25. We encourage you to take part in our many social, cultural and educational events, beginning with the Grade Level Gatherings in September and October. For a complete listing of PO activities, please click here for the PO calendar, print a copy, and post it on your fridge - then make sure to join us! We are introducing the Safe Homes Network (SHN), a joint project of the Parent Organization and the school administration. The goal of the JCHS-SHN is to extend our supportive kehillah ("community") in ways that help keep our teens safe. We hope to do this by encouraging safe homes through active supervision of our teens, alcohol and drug-free parties, and open communication among parents. We have created a list of intentions related to providing a safe home, and we are asking you to read and sign this Statement of Intention (it is not meant to be a legally binding agreement.) Please click here to print the JCHS Safe Homes Statement of Intention, fill it out, and mail it to JCHS, Attention PO (or drop it off at the front desk) by August 25. You can commit to one, some, or all of these intentions. We respect that each family has its own perspective on these issues, and you can indicate which apply to you. The focus is on our common belief that all our students should be safe. JCHS will publish a SHN directory to facilitate communication directly among parents. When your student attends JCHS, you'll see how getting involved, supporting your teen, and making new friends can come together under one roof. Please feel free to email us at
