Visual Arts

The Visual and Performing Arts faculty offers every student the opportunity to explore artistic creation in visual, dramatic and musical mediums. Our talented arts faculty are artists in their own right, and bring knowledge and experience to support our students in developing their own individual styles.

Each year, students participate in our Arts Evening, where our campus is transformed into an art gallery and performance space for spoken word, literary arts, and performing arts.

The JCHS music program is designed to increase the skill and performance level of each student and to develop aesthetic and cultural values through critical listening. Through vocal and instrumental ensembles, students have the opportunity to perform in varied settings including solo work, orchestral concerts, and drama production accompaniment.

JCHS Drama produces three shows each year including a comedy, drama, and musical. Over the course of a student’s four years at JCHS, he or she will experience a wide range of styles, periods, and types of theatrical productions. JCHS’ state-of-the-art Performing Arts Theater facilitates student involvement on every level including lighting and sound design, technical theater training, and collaboration with studio art classes for scenic painting and prop fabrication. In 2011, our Drama Department was selected as one of the top programs in the U.S. and Canada to perform at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
