University of Albany – BA/BS
Touro College – MEd

Ariel Cohen is thrilled to be joining the learning support team at JCHS. Born and raised in NYC, he attended the State University of New York at Albany, where he received a dual bachelor’s degree in Art and Biology. Ariel started his teaching career as a teaching assistant at a school for students with speech and language needs, where he discovered his passion for special education. He went back to school to receive his master’s degree in general and special education from Touro College in New York City. Since then, Ariel has over ten years of special education teaching experience, consisting of positions at the School for Language and Communication Development in Queens, NY, The Gateway Middle School in San Francisco, and Fusion Academy Marin in San Rafael.

Born to Israeli parents, Ariel is fluent in both Hebrew and English. He grew up visiting Israel in the summer months and loves to visit Tel Aviv as often as he can. Ariel moved to San Francisco from New York City two years ago to be closer to his brother, sister in law and their children and he has come to love the city for all of the amazing things that it has to offer.

In his free time, Ariel loves to take day trips to explore the beautiful nature around the Bay Area and find new places to golf. During the colder months you can find him in Lake Tahoe enjoying a challenging blue slope on his snowboard. Ariel lives in the inner Richmond district of SF with his fiancée, Dana.
