Yosef Rosen joined JCHS in 2018 as a teacher of Jewish Studies. His classes weave together the imaginative and social dimensions of Jewish creative genres—Bible, Kabbalah, Talmud, philosophy, and poetry—and invite students to discover their own genres of intellectual creativity. He has been engaged in immersive adult Jewish-education in the Bay since 2012, as a teacher with Lehrhaus Judaica, Kevah, and Moishe House. He earned a PhD in Jewish Studies from UC Berkeley in 2017, where he completed a dissertation on representations of spiritual community in the Zohar. He lives with his wife, Amy, in the Berkeley hills. In Yosef’s spare time he enjoys playing jazz guitar, biking the hills of the Bay, and designing new Jewish rituals.
