Being one of the many kids that went to a Jewish day school, I've gone on a class Israel trip before, so I had some expectations, but once the trip started all exceptions were proved wrong.
This trip wasn't promoting Israel as the land of the Jewish people, but as a country with deep rooted problems that many people are willing to resolve. Throughout the trip I was able to speak with Israelis and Palestinians. I had the chance to listen to their opinions and reflect on them, and that was an experience that I've never had before. By listening to those opinions, I formed my own opinions and establish a connection with Israel that I didn't have before. This connection didn't have anything to do with spirituality or religion, but instead to my connection to the land and the people. I'm so grateful that JCHS gave me this opportunity.
JCHS is grateful for generous operational, programmatic, and financial support from:
