Sophomore Journey: A perfect start

Michael Fitch, Math & Science Teacher
It's 6 am and all is still quiet at the airport.  By 6:20 a.m. we have taken over the Southwest ticket area with our bags, hugs, and excitement for the journey.  We passed out the tickets, made it through security, boarded the plane, landed in Vegas, and made it to the Paris hotel by 11 am local time with no problems!

Once at the Paris, students completed an Instagram scavenger hunt in pairs (check out #UtahChavrutah to see photos).  After the hunt students had 2 hours of free time to explore a few hotels on the strip.  Some students did some shopping at H&M, others spent some time at the beautiful pool area.  It was hot and no one used enough sunscreen 😀. We were ready for our 3-hour relaxing bus ride to Springdale.
Once at the Quality Inn we had a kosher dinner, checked in with our tribe groups and then headed out to our night hike at 10 p.m.

The highlight of our trip so far has been the hour we spent in only starlit darkness listening to a loud brook and other sounds of nature.  The stars were breathtaking.
It was a long day, but the perfect start to our journey.
