Senior Journey: Learning from the Bearers of Culture

After spending time in the morning preparing for oral history interviews, Seniors visited the Ashe Cultural Center in the heart of Central City, New Orleans. They enjoyed meeting some of the talented locals and took part in a drum circle and conducted oral history interviews with "culture-bearers."

After lunch, seniors took a walk through the beautiful and lush Louisiana wetlands through the Barataria Preserve before returning to the hotel for down time, dinner and "Krewe meetings."

After dinner, the students visited the world-famous jazz venue Preservation Hall. Although the wait was long -- an hour and 20 minutes!-- the concert was well worth it!
