Merav Rozenblum is not only a beloved member of our World Languages faculty, she is also a contract interpreter for the US State Dept. and recently translated speeches given by the President in Riyadh and Jerusalem.
Hebrew teacher Merav Rozenblum joined the happy attendees of the Jewish Community High School of the Bay's 2017 Spring Celebration gala at Bimbo's 365 Club on Monday night, but there was no relaxing afterwards. A Hebrew interpreter for the US State Department, Ms. Rozenblum was contracted to translate from English to Hebrew two speeches given in Riyadh and Jerusalem by the President on his first major overseas trip.
With a partner in Washington D.C., Ms. Rozenblum worked Saturday on the translation of the speech delivered to the Arab Islamic American Summit meeting, and through Monday night on the remarks delivered by the president at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
This is not the first time that Ms. Rozenblum has translated for the White House. In 2009, she was one of a team of interpreters who translated then President Obama's "A New Beginning" speech (Hebrew link here), given at the Major Reception Hall at Cairo University in Egypt, into fifteen languages. She also accompanied Mr. Obama to serve as translator on his tour of Israel in 2013.
