Coach Pollock Nominated for Golden Bagel Award

Mazel Tov to our very own Coach Aaron Pollock who was just nominated to receive the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Golden Bagel Award - an honor that the JSHOF bestows on individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community. Coach Pollock has led the JCHS Boys Varsity Soccer team since 2005! He is revered by his players, and is known to go above and beyond the soccer pitch to positively impact the lives of his student-athletes.

The Golden Bagel Award is an honor given out by the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame of Northern California. "The Golden Bagel Award event is an opportunity to recognize those community activists who are deserving of recognition — the synagogue athletic coach, the sponsor of an all-Jewish team, a volunteer referee, the unsung heroes who have made contributions to the Jewish community."

Coach Pollock says, "I love coaching, not only because I love soccer, but because it also makes me a better teacher. It is always so rewarding to see my students in a different context than just the classroom. Indeed, some life lessons are easier to teach and learn on a field of play than in an academic setting. Our goal in the JCHS soccer program has always been to develop mental tenacity, to play for each other/play as one, to embrace competition, and to win with grace and to lose with dignity. I hope that in some small way I have helped my players realize and embrace these lessons over the years."
