Amplify! A Gathering for Jewish Teens of Color
Sunday, Nov 4, 2018 | 10–3pm
How can we make our stories heard, across Jewish and secular spaces? Jewish teens of color come together to exchange stories about who you are and what matters most. This program will include creative workshops, an inspiring panel, and access to amazing resources in the Jewish community such as free membership to the Jewish Film Festival, teen internships and more!
Presented in collaboration with Jewish Community High School and The Contemporary Jewish Museum. This program is made possible by a grant from the Walter & Elise Haas Fund.
Whos is this event for?
This is for any teen, age 13 - 18, who identifies as a Jew of Color. We ask that you come as you are, knowing that each of us brings our own experiences and insights.
We are committed to sustaining an inclusive, accessible space for all self-identified young Jews of Color -- for this reason, we are keeping the event free of charge (snacks and lunch included) and holding it at a BART-accessible location in downtown San Francisco.
What is the goal?
We hope to create a unique gathering space for Jewish Teens of Color to celebrate their diversity and build their strength as a community. We believe that our Jewishness can better thrive when we are connected. We also believe that the world is a better place if our voices are amplified across Jewish and secular spaces.
What kind of programming?
The event will include art exhibit tours, storytelling, a workshop with the Youth Voices museum exhibit, a panel of professionals, and discussions to explore how our narratives fit into the bigger picture. There will also be access to resources within the Jewish community, from complimentary passes to the Jewish Film Festival to information on internships.
