Ellen Finestone has been deeply involved in Jewish education and community life since moving to the Bay Area from Cincinnati with her family sixteen years ago. Prior to joining the JCHS Board, Ellen served as JCHS Parent Association Chair for five years, where she helped strengthen parent engagement and revitalized the JCHS Community Sukkot Dinner.

Ellen also served on the Brandeis Hillel Day School Board of Trustees, where she was a member of the Committee on Trustees and the Marin Working Group that helped establish Brandeis Marin as an independent school.

Ellen currently serves on the board of Camp Young Judaea Midwest, where she chairs the Alumni Committee. She is also a member of the EarlyJ Educator Impact Award Committee and serves on committees for the Helen Diller Teen Tikkun Olam Awards and the Diller Educator Awards.

Ellen received her B.A. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) and is the proud mom of Gabrielle ’17, Ethan ’20, and Mia ’24.

Ellen and her husband, Barry, love taking long walks, Peloton, trips to the farmers market, traveling, engaging in Jewish life, and, most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
