Where Ideas Take Shape
At JCHS, hands-on learning gives students the opportunity to turn ideas into something tangible. The Tech Lab is a dedicated space for designing, building, experimenting, and problem-solving—giving students access to the tools and technology needed to take projects from concept to creation.
Students use the lab across computer science, robotics and engineering, theater technology, EVERlab, Keystone projects, and other curricular and extracurricular programs.
Design. Build. Test. Repeat.
The creative process rarely follows a straight line. In the Tech Lab, students learn through an iterative process of design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and reflection—developing solutions, learning from what doesn't work, and refining their ideas along the way.
The lab is equipped with tools that support both technical and creative projects, including:
CNC laser cutter
3D printer
Drill press
Power and hand tools
Robotics and fabrication equipment
Beyond the Classroom
The Tech Lab expands opportunities for students throughout the JCHS community. It supports the school's four-year computer science and robotics sequence, provides additional resources for theater technology, and creates space for independent and interdisciplinary projects.
JCHS also extends these opportunities into the broader community through STEAM-focused middle school workshops and participation in FIRST robotics programs. Students compete in FIRST robotics events, and JCHS serves as a host site for FIRST LEGO League competitions.

Their support helped transform an existing classroom into a dedicated space for innovation, fabrication, and hands-on learning.
