As a pluralistic Jewish community with countless academic and extracurricular opportunities, JCHS gives students the space to explore parts of themselves they never knew were there. Whether in the classroom, onstage, on the field, in the larger community (or all of the above!), students can make an impact from the moment they step on campus and leave a lasting mark on the community by the time they graduate. At JCHS, there’s no single mold for the “right” kind of student. There are countless ways to learn, contribute, connect, and find your place.

JCHS is committed to socio-economic diversity among our students. We want this quality education to be available to any Jewish student who wishes to apply to JCHS regardless of their financial situation. Families who feel they may qualify for our Tuition Assistance Program are strongly encouraged to apply.

JCHS has limited space available in the ninth, tenth, and eleventh grades. We generally do not encourage transfer students into the senior class unless there are extenuating circumstances, such as a family relocation. To inquire further about transferring into JCHS, please call our Admissions Office.

JCHS is truly a “community” high school, which means that we embrace students and their families from across the Jewish spectrum. This allows us to create a pluralistic environment where our different beliefs and practices are welcome, respected and shared.

JCHS shares many of the same benefits of top independent schools – including experienced educators, small classes, and an individualized approach to learning. Our primary difference, however, is the Jewish education – reflecting all styles of Jewish expression and culture – that we provide in addition to a challenging college preparatory curriculum. In this structure, students have the opportunity to explore ethical dilemmas and their own values – as Jews and as global citizens. Our students successfully move on to the finest universities equipped with sophisticated analytical skills and an understanding of the importance of making a positive difference in the world.

JCHS is committed to supporting students with learning differences through our Learning Support Programs. Our Student Support team provides integrated educational support as well as resources to students, faculty, and families. They also engage in continuing professional development for our faculty and staff and work closely with students and families to ensure that the needs of all our students are communicated thoroughly and met with individual care.

Students at JCHS are not required to take Hebrew class but they are required to complete two years of world language requirement. JCHS offers 5 levels of Spanish (including AP Spanish, Language and Culture) and 7 levels of Hebrew (including honors levels).

No prior Judaic Studies experience is required to attend JCHS. As a pluralistic school, students from varying Jewish backgrounds can bring their unique experiences and perspectives to JCHS. We are excited to meet students where they are at in their journey of exploring what it means to be Jewish. JCHS offers Judaic Studies courses in English and Hebrew, with honors and advanced classes available for certain courses. 

No, JCHS has a TEST-FREE admissions policy. JCHS will not accept SSAT, ISEE, or any other standardized test scores as part of the admissions process.

At JCHS getting to know you as a person is an integral part of our admissions process. All JCHS applicants interview with members of the Professional Community. This interview may be scheduled after the applicant has submitted Part I of their application along with the application fee.
