Dr. Jeffrey M. Gelfand is a Professor of Neurology at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). He specializes in caring for patients with neuroinflammatory and neurodegenerative conditions, conducts clinical research to advance new treatments, and is an award-winning medical educator. Jeff grew up in Southern California, studied history as an undergraduate at Princeton University, and received his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. Together with his wife, Amy (a child neurologist), Jeff moved to San Francisco for residency and has since lived in the Bay Area. He has three children: Adam (JCHS Class of ’26), Ethan (JCHS Class of ’28), and Abigail. Jeff enjoys travel, cooking, the outdoors, and is an avid reader. He also deeply values their synagogue community at Congregation Kol Shofar in Marin.
