Rabbi Rory Katz is thrilled to be teaching Jewish Thought at JCHS and serving on the Jewish Life Team. She received her BA in Philosophy at Vassar College and her rabbinic ordination, MA in Hebrew Letters, and Certificate in Pastoral Care from the Jewish Theological Seminary. She served as the spiritual leader and rabbi of Chevrei Tzedek Congregation in Baltimore for 6 years before moving to the Bay Area in 2023. Before joining JCHS, she worked at UC Berkeley's Center for Jewish Studies as the Assistant Director of the Antisemitism Education Initiative and the Family and Children Educator at Chochmat HaLev, a Renewal synagogue. Outside of JCHS, she serves as a freelance rabbi teaching for local organizations and officiating lifecycle events. In her free time, she can be found with her dog Arlene at the dog park or on a hike in Marin or the Berkeley Hills. She loves theater, ultimate frisbee, rock climbing, and partner dancing of all kinds.
