PhD in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory from the University of Pennsylvania

Dr. Ariel Resnikoff was born and raised in Berkeley, California. He spent more than a decade living, studying and teaching elsewhere—including in Montreal, Buenos Aires, Paris, Oxford, Tel Aviv and Philadelphia—before returning to the Bay Area where his extended family has dwelled for more than a century.
In 2019, Resnikoff received his PhD in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory from the University of Pennsylvania, writing on multilingual Jewish literatures, cultures and counter-histories, with a focus on poetics and translation. Before arriving at JCHS, he was a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, and served as a Visiting Professor at Tel Aviv University.
Dr. Resnikoff is a widely published contemporary writer and translator, and his own work has been translated into and published in German, French, Russian and Spanish. When he’s not in the classroom, or deep into his reading/writing/translation, you can find him at the swimming pool, training for an upcoming open water race, or else at home in El Cerrito, cooking for his family and friends.
