Drama at JCHS
JCHS drama students explore every aspect of the dramatic arts, including acting, playwriting, improvisation, directing, technical theatre training, and lighting, sound, set, and costume design.
Drama students have been accepted to prestigious BFA programs including NYU Tisch (acting and playwriting programs), UCLA, Emerson, and Syracuse University.
Our vibrant programs and talented students have received numerous national and international accolades:
- JCHS playwrights have been finalists in regional and national writing competitions, including Young Playwrights, Inc. Competition.
- In 2013, JCHS was the first international school to participate in London’s National Theatre New Views Young Playwrights Competition. In 2014, a JCHS student playwright was a semi-finalist in the New Views Young Playwrights Competition.
- JCHS was chosen as the top high school theatre program in the Northwest by Stage Directions magazine.
- JCHS was selected out of hundreds of applicants in the United States and Canada to perform at the prestigious Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2011 and 2017.
