Affording JCHS

JCHS offers a tuition assistance program designed to help keep a JCHS education accessible to families from a variety of economic backgrounds.

As a community school, it is a priority for JCHS to make this quality education as accessible as possible for the widest range of mission-appropriate students. We consider every family’s individual situation carefully. While each family is asked to contribute financially toward their student’s education, we encourage anyone sincerely interested in attending JCHS to apply to our Tuition Assistance Program, even if you have concerns about your family’s capacity to afford full tuition.

Our admissions process operates separately from decisions about the Tuition Assistance program. Consequently, and because our resources are limited, some applicants may be admitted to JCHS, but placed on our Tuition Assistance program waitlist.

To learn more about the Tuition Assistance Program at JCHS, please join us at our Tuition Assistance workshop with our Director of Finance. This workshop is for any family applying to JCHS, and you may register by contacting the Admissions Office. There will be more information about registration for this event soon.

Tuition FAQs

For the 2024-2025 academic year, the tuition is $62,180.

In addition, there are a Parent Association dues of $100. There are no fees for costs such as athletic uniforms, textbooks, and school-provided equipment.

Families may opt into our kosher lunch program, and our transportation program, and may also wish to factor in costs such as experiential education Journeys and specialized tutoring. Each student is required to bring their own laptop to JCHS.

JCHS offers three options for tuition payment plans:
Annual payment: Tuition can be paid in full at the time of enrollment with no processing fee. Two semi-annual payments: Tuition can be paid in two installments through the FACTS service.
This option requires a one-time $10 setup fee that is added to your total plan payment. We require a 10% deposit to be paid at the time of enrollment. Then one payment is due in July, with a second payment due in January. Monthly payments: Tuition may be paid in ten monthly installments debited from checking/savings through FACTS. This option requires a one-time $45 setup fee that is added to your total plan payment. We require a 10% deposit to be paid at the time of enrollment. Then monthly payments begin in July.

No.  An application for tuition assistance does not affect a student’s admission selection. The Tuition Assistance Committee operates separately from the admissions office. Our selection of students is a “need-blind” process.

We encourage all families who feel they may qualify for our Tuition Assistance program to apply. Because financial aid decisions are made independently of the admissions process, and because our resources are limited, some students may be accepted for admission, but placed on a waitlist for tuition assistance.

Notice of tuition assistance decisions will accompany letters of acceptance to JCHS, which will be mailed on Thursday, March 20, 2025, and sent electronically on Friday, March 21, 2025.

Yes. Tuition assistance is based on your family’s financial need.  We ask that you reapply each year so that we can verify your current needs.

No.  JCHS does not have an income limit for tuition assistance since every family’s situation is different. We evaluate the need of each family based on their application and make our decisions accordingly.

JCHS considers all available sources of financial support when making tuition assistance decisions. Custodial and non-custodial parents are required to complete a tuition assistance application. The award process cannot be completed without full information from parents/guardians.

Decisions for each year are based on the prior year’s tax return. You may submit a letter explaining your specific extenuating circumstances to the JCHS tuition assistance committee to explain any changes.
