Jen Sturgill has been teaching visual art and AP Art History at JCHS since 2006. She earned her B.F.A. in Printmaking and Drawing from Sonoma State University, and her M.F.A. in Printmaking from the University of Iowa where she received the Iowa Fellowship.

She was a masterprinter at an invitational fine art press in San Francisco, collaborating with American and International artists. She has been included in several exhibitions, including Mapping Madness, an International drawing show at the Inside Out Museum in Beijing, China. She grew up in Round Valley, a remote area in Mendocino County, home of Round Valley Indian Reservation. She had the unique experience of living without electricity or indoor plumbing until she was in her mid-teens, and so developed a deep love of nature, and a keen sense of improvisation which she brings to her passion for art and teaching.
