Karie has been teaching English at JCHS since 2003, which means she has had the honor of seeing each class graduate since the inception of the school. During her tenure here, she has taught all 4 levels of English, and has also served as Dean of the Seniors during the ’06-’07 school year, and Dean of the Freshmen during the ’07-’08 school year. After getting her Masters degree in Education, but before coming to JCHS, she taught both English and reading development in Bay Area public schools, and writing at a college in Chicago.
Though originally hailing from Chicago, for over 25 years Karie has lived in San Francisco, where she is raising her two children. They don’t seem to find her as funny as she knows she is, so she has to get her accolades from audiences when she performs stand-up story telling.
