Marta Alejandro joined the faculty of JCHS in 2023 as a Spanish teacher. She is a native speaker who grew up in Spain and started her professional life as a journalist and translator before moving to Colorado in the 1990s. After working in the education field as a technical translator for several years, Marta transitioned to teaching when her family moved to the Bay Area.
As a bilingual who started learning English as a school child, and after training bilingual staff working with Spanish-speaking students and families, she developed a love for the fun and the challenges that learning a language presents, and is always eager to continue the journey with her students.
When she is not teaching, Marta enjoys reading, listening to music, traveling, camping, and cooking with her husband and adult daughters.
