Michael Shapero, Director of Food Services, is a native San Franciscan who has been interested in food from a young age. He studied Hotel/Restaurant Management at Cal Poly- Pomona and has worked in various aspects of the Food and Hospitality Industries. In addition to managing restaurants, Michael has worked in hotel operations, retail grocery, been a wholesale food buyer as well as in sales of wholesale food imports. He enjoys cooking and learning about new foods and their production.

Michael and his wife, Joanne, are also parents of Talia, a JCHS Alum who was a member of the Class of 2019! Her brother, Avi, is currently in the 11th grade at Ruth Asawa School of the Arts High School. Michael’s favorite experience from recent years was traveling to the Dominican Republic with his family where, in addition to relaxing, they performed some community service projects in areas of need. When Michael is not working or cooking at home he enjoys rock climbing, tennis, SF Giants baseball, playing guitar, and listening to live music
