Community Block: Michael Cabral

September 18, 2025: “From pain to restorative justice”

During the high holiday season, many of us are embarking on a path of “Teshuvah” – that is, a process of personal growth that includes changing one’s ways and making amends. How might that look in the context of our prison system, and what are our individual and collective responsibilities? On September 18, 2025 we are thrilled to host Michael Cabral – a father, husband, talented writer, case manager, and formerly incarcerated person who was given a life sentence when he was 17 years old. Michael will talk about his own “Teshuvah” journey within prison, and how he has taken the lessons with him into a new life of freedom.
